What is the meaning of Baptism?

  • Baptism identifies us with Christ in death and resurrection. Col 2:12
  • Baptism illustrates our new life as a Christian. Romans 6:4, 2Cor 5:17
  • Baptism demonstrates your obedience to Christ. John 14:15

**Baptism does not wash away sin. Only Jesus can do that.  It does not make you believe, it shows you believe.

What is the method of Baptism?

1.Jesus was baptized by immersion. Matt 3:16

2.The New Testament believers were all baptized by immersion. Acts 8:38-39

3.The Word Baptize means to immerse.

**The reason for immersion is that it clearly describes burial and resurrection.

When should I be Baptized?

  •  Every person should be baptized after they have believed in Christ.
  • Those who believed were baptized that day. Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12

At the Anchor, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.

The baptism of the New Testament declares what has already taken place.  At the Anchor, it is a membership requirement to be baptized the way Jesus was baptized even though many of us may have been confirmed or sprinkled.
